Medical Staff
The physician who admits you is responsible for directing your care while you are a patient in the hospital. If you have questions about your illness or injury, consult the physician coordinating your hospital treatment program.
Nursing Staff
Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day by a team of professional registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and aides. A nurse manager is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care on each unit. Please feel free to contact your nurse or the nurse manager if you have questions or concerns.
Clinical Services Staff
Specially trained staff in a number of clinical departments of the hospital are available to assist in your diagnosis and care. These departments include Cardiopulmonary, Clinical Laboratory, Physical Therapy, Cardiovascular Laboratory, Pharmacy and Radiology.
Dietitian
Our dietitian or dietetic technician can answer questions about your diet and help you understand how to follow your diet when you go home. Please forward questions and concerns to extension 4870.
Patient Educator
A registered nurse is available to help you understand your medical condition and treatment. If you have questions or concerns, please call extension 4813 or 9439, or ask your nurse or physician to refer you.
Social Workers
Social workers are available to assist patients and their families in planning for a patient’s needs after discharge. They are also available to help patients and families deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness and hospitalization. They can provide information about resources and agencies available in the community to
help the patient. To reach the Social Services Department, dial extension 9337 or 9368, or ask your nurse to contact a social worker.
Pastoral Care Chaplains
O’Bleness Memorial Hospital offers access to pastoral care - emotional and spiritual support - through our Patient Relations Volunteer Chaplains Association. If you would like to request a visit from a volunteer chaplain or to have your personal clergy notified of your hospitalization, please fill out the blue card in your patient notebook or make a verbal request to our staff. Hospital staff will then contact your preferred minister.
Patient Representatives
Patient representatives are available to address concerns you may have regarding your care, charges or services. Our patient representatives can explain policies and procedures as well as your rights and responsibilities as a patient. If at any time you feel you are not being treated in a fair and concerned manner, please notify our Patient Relations Office at extension 9383 while you are a patient, or dial (740) 592-9206 after you go home.
Housekeeping Staff
Your room is cleaned daily by a member of the environmental services staff. If there is a housekeeping problem in your room, tell your nurse so that it can be taken care of as soon as possible.
Volunteers
Volunteers are available to bring bibles, puzzle books, playing cards, novels and magazines to your room. Please dial extension 6131 or 9270 to request.
Clinical Students
Because O'Bleness is a teaching hospital, students in a variety of clinical programs may be involved in your care. If you do not wish students to participate in your care, please inform your caregiver in each department.
Physician Interns and Residents
Interns and residents are licensed physicians pursuing additional training and experience. They support the efforts of your admitting physician.
Patient Accounting Staff
Patient accounting representatives can assist you with questions about your hospital bill and help you interpret financial policies and billing procedures at the hospital. Patient Accounting can be reached by calling
extension 9363 if your last name begins with A through K or extension 9277 if your last name begins with L through Z. The department is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
