Your Accommodations
Inpatient Rooms
When you register for admission as an inpatient or observation patient at O'Bleness, you will be asked whether you prefer a private or semiprivate room. Because private rooms are assigned first according to medical necessity, a private room may not be available to you. The daily room rate is slightly higher for a private room. Most insurance companies do not cover the additional cost for a private room. Your room charge includes around-the-clock nursing care, meals, housekeeping and linen services, and routine use of equipment and materials.

Telephone Service
A telephone is located at each patient’s bedside except in the Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit, Outpatient Center and Emergency Department. A phone can be made available to patients in these areas by asking the nursing staff. To place local calls dial 8, wait for a dial tone and then dial the number.

Long distance calls may be made by dialing 8-0 followed by the number. An operator will ask for billing information. Long distance calls must be charged to your home phone or calling card, or you may call collect. For assistance from the hospital switchboard operator, dial 0.

You may receive calls in your patient room between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The phone in your room can be called directly from outside the hospital. To determine the phone number for your room, please speak with your nurse or contact the hospital switchboard operator by dialing 0.

Our switchboard is equipped with a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) to assist hearing-impaired people who call the hospital. The number for calling our TDD is (740) 592-9495. We also have available a portable TDD that can be used in your patient room. To have the portable TDD brought to your room, speak with your nurse.

Television
Color television sets are provided free of charge in each inpatient room. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping the volume low on your TV and by turning off your set at bedtime. Earphones are available by request from your nurse.

Smoking Areas
We believe that smoking is potentially harmful to the health and safety of both smokers and non-smokers. To protect the health of our patients, visitors and staff, smoking is prohibited inside the hospital and at entrances.

Patients are not permitted to smoke. Smoking cessation aides are available upon request.

Visitors may not smoke anywhere in the hospital or at entrances. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas a short distance from the Visitor Entrance, Emergency Department Entrance, and in the shelter house adjacent to the patio at the Cafeteria.

Outpatient Center Accommodations
Patients admitted to the Outpatient Center may be assigned a bed or recliner chair, depending on the procedure to be performed. One visitor may remain with each patient in the Outpatient Center if desired. Other visitors are encouraged to wait in the Betty G. Anastas Visitor Waiting Area in the main lobby adjacent to the Outpatient Center. A volunteer will keep these visitors informed of the patient’s progress.

We are unable to provide television reception to patients in the bay area due to technical limitations and our concern for the increased noise level that could disturb other patients.

Tape and/or CD players may be available. You may ask your nurse or a volunteer.
