Speak Up
The staff of O'Bleness Memorial Hospital encourages you to "Speak Up" if you have questions or concerns or if you don't understand something that is happening. We encourage you to ask a trusted family member or friend to be your advocate during your stay. We urge you to participate in all decisions relating to your care and treatment.
Medication Safety
All medications you take while you are in the hospital are prescribed by your doctor, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy and administered by a nurse. Patients are not permitted to administer their own medications or keep personal medications at their bedside. Medications brought from home should be given to your nurse for secure storage. The hospital pharmacy is not available to fill prescriptions given to you when you leave the hospital.
Medication errors are the most common health care mistakes. While you are a patient with us, we encourage you to share the responsibility for safe medication use. Make sure you know your medications, how to take them and why you take them. If there is anything you don't understand about your medications, ask your nurse or doctor to help you with your questions.
Oxygen
Special regulations are in effect when patients are receiving oxygen. Electrically operated equipment and aerosol products are not permitted in these areas. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in any room where oxygen is in use.
Smoking Areas
To protect the health of our patients, visitors and staff, smoking is prohibited inside the hospital and at entrances.
Patients are not permitted to smoke. Smoking cessation aides are available upon request.
Visitors may smoke only in designated areas a short distance from the Visitor Entrance and Emergency Department Entrance, and in a shelter adjacent to the patio at the cafeteria.
Valuable or Lost Items
Although patients are asked not to bring items of value to the hospital, your nurse can arrange to deposit items in the hospital safe and arrange for them to be delivered to you when you are discharged. If you lose personal belongings, please notify your nurse right away. To inquire about lost articles, please dial extension 6179, or call (740) 592-9409 within
90 days after discharge.
Vehicle Assistance
Safety and Security officers are available to assist patients and visitors with changing a tire, starting an engine, retrieving keys locked in a car or escorting you to your car. Call extension 6179 for assistance or ask your nurse to contact Safety Security.
Emergency Preparedness Drills
For your protection, the hospital conducts fire and disaster drills regularly. If a drill occurs while you are here, please remain in your room and do not become alarmed. Our staff is trained in responding to these emergencies.
