Annual Giving Campaign Since 1973, residents of southeastern Ohio have provided
vital support to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital through annual
fund drives for specific equipment and project needs. Throughout the years, funds from various Annual Giving
Campaigns have made major equipment purchases possible for areas such as the Surgery Department, the Intensive
Care/Coronary Care Unit and the Emergency Department. Funds from Annual Giving Campaigns have also supported
projects to renovate patient rooms and to improve and expand the hospital's rehabilitative services.

O'Bleness Hospital Charity Golf Tournament
A committee of community volunteers
first organized the O'Bleness Hospital Charity Golf Tournament in 1982 as a
fund-raising event for the hospital. Each June, local and national celebrities join more than 100 area golfers to
play in the tournament held at the Athens Country Club. The committee has raised nearly $400,000 for the hospital
during the past 21 years.
For more information about the tournament, call (740) 594-4141.
Riverview Garden Project
In 1998, James Anastas, a longtime friend of
O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, organized a community effort to beautify
the hospital grounds. The initial phase of the project consisted of planting a Row of Honor, a line of trees between
the hospital's property and the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway. In this Row of Honor, trees, paid for with community
donations, were planted to either honor or remember 51 individuals and businesses. The second phase of the project involved the installation of a bench and drinking fountain near the Row of Honor and the establishment of two, 62-foot-long flowerbeds on the hospital grounds. This phase of the project was made possible with grants from the city of Athens and the Athens County Commission and through private donations.
Contributions can still be made to this project. Several trees remain available for adoption for a minimum donation
of $750. The level of donation required is determined by the size and location of the tree. A garden plaque with the
honoree's name and the donor's name will be placed by the adopted tree. O'Bleness also accepts donations for the
annual planting and maintenance of the flowerbeds.

Starlight Ball
Each year, the Intermediate Circle of the Child Conservation
League sponsors the Starlight Ball on the first Saturday
of December. The purpose of the Circle is to provide for the physical, intellectual and moral purity, health and
strength of children and youth and to promote their welfare by means of education and advisory work. The proceeds
from each Starlight Ball go toward the addition and improvement of equipment and services for children and babies at
O'Bleness.
Make plans to attend this year's gala dinner and dance. Tickets may be purchased from members of the Intermediate
Circle of the Child Conservation League or by calling O'Bleness' Community Relations Department at (740) 592-9494.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts Memorial and tribute gifts are wonderful ways to
express sympathy or to honor a special individual or occasion. These
gifts are truly meaningful. They demonstrate the donors' depth of concern and benefit others by allowing O'Bleness to
continue its mission of providing quality healthcare regardless of an individual's ability to pay. When O'Bleness
receives a memorial or tribute gift, the hospital's Community Relations Department sends a letter to the person or
family in whose honor the gift was made. The amount of the gift is kept confidential. All donors receive a separate
acknowledgment for their records.

The Guild of O'Bleness
The Guild of O'Bleness Memorial Hospital was established
in 1961 by the hospital's Board of Trustees. The Guild's
purpose, as established by the board, is to coordinate and implement fund-raising activities on behalf of the
hospital. Each year, the Guild holds numerous fund-raising events including uniform sales, book and gift sales and
the holiday LoveLights project.
The Guild conducts an annual membership drive each spring. Annual dues are $10, and lifetime membership is $100.
Members are invited to participate in any of the many fund-raising projects or to serve on the Guild's Executive
Board. The Guild's election and annual meeting is held in October, and Executive Board meetings are held the first
Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the hospital.
Call the Community Relations Department at (740) 592-9494 for more information about membership or for a schedule of
activities.
